Build a knife in 8 hours
Service Description
In this class you’ll learn how to make a kitchen knife from a stock removal technique (no forging in this class), heat treat, grind, and put a wa handle on your knife. To help ensure that everyone completes their knives in the 8 hours, we will be sticking to one of two basic designs, either a western chef or a Japanese bunka. I have a specific steel to use that is easier to forge and easier to harden, which also helps us finish in the allotted time. If you want to make something specific and use specific materials, please contact me about setting up a private class. • Bring gloves if you feel like you need them. • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Cotton is preferred due to working with hot steel. • Eye protection is required. I have glasses, but bring your own if you prefer. • Please read policy

We take safety very serious, but all participants will still need to sign a waiver to participate in the classes. Eye protection is required while in the shop. If you don't have eye protection, I have glasses I can provide.
